A large oval of translucent Yemeni agate in the purple-leaning red the market calls Rummani, after the seeds of the pomegranate. The colour is even across the stone, with a fine grain visible when light passes through.
The sterling silver collar is twisted like rope. On each shoulder a lion’s face looks out in darkened relief, a sunburst flower above it and laurel leaves falling below, and the back of the band is pierced with scrollwork.
Bold without being loud.
