A large oval of Yemeni agate of the kind the market calls Musawwar, the picture stone. Over a deep plum-brown field, patches of ochre gold are traced in cream like the coastlines of an old chart, and a sandy shore settles along the lower edge.
The sterling silver bezel is kept smooth so the scene stays whole. The shoulders carry the ornament: raised five-petal flowers, long feathered leaves and rows of fine beading, set against a darkened ground.
A landscape you can wear, drawn by the stone itself.
