A large oval of milky, translucent Yemeni agate of the kind the market calls Shajari, for the fine dark branches that grow through the stone like winter trees, with a soft lavender cloud beneath them.
The sterling silver mount frames it in a notched collar. On each shoulder the jambiya, Yemen’s curved dagger, rises polished above a field of beaded granulation, with carved leaf and teardrop relief running down the band.
The most Yemeni of stones, with the most Yemeni of emblems.
