The stone is a large, high-domed oval cabochon of natural, untreated kabdi (liver) Yemeni agate: deep liver-red with a plum cast, strongly saturated, and translucent where the light enters the dome. A pale cream zone shows at the base of the face and a small bright-red fleck sits to one side, the marks of a stone cut from one piece of rough.
A smooth bezel with a beaded border holds the cabochon. The shoulders carry a hand-engraved architectural panel: a row of tower-house facades with arched windows, lattice screens and small window lights, kept bright against an oxidised ground and framed with beading. The silver is 925 sterling.
A men’s ring that puts a city on the hand and a deep red stone above it.
