The stone is a large, high-domed oval cabochon of natural, untreated Yemeni agate, colourless to milky white and nearly transparent at the crown. Fine white and pale-grey needles run straight through it and cross like hatched straw, with a soft grey cloud deeper inside; the polish is clean and the dome rises well above the rim.
The 925 sterling silver mount is fully worked. A channel of square beads circles the bezel, and each shoulder carries a deeply hand-engraved lion’s head with a flowing mane, set within arabesque scrollwork that continues down the shank. The recesses are oxidised so the relief stands out in bright silver.
A clear stone with a dense interior on one of the most heavily engraved mounts in the collection.
