The stone is an oval cabochon of natural, untreated Yemeni agate, translucent milky grey-white with a cool blue cast. Near its centre sits one dark inclusion, black-grey outlined in rust brown with a tapering tail, that to us reads as a bird perched in profile; others may see a standing figure. The dome is clean and well polished, and the picture sits where the eye lands first.
The 925 sterling silver mount is built from small elements: a braided rope border round the bezel, granulated dotwork fanning down each shoulder, two polished teardrop drops set into the dots, and a laurel-leaf band running along the lower edge, with the recesses oxidised to lift the detail.
A one-figure picture stone on a mount made of droplets and braid.
