The stone is a natural, untreated Yemeni agate of the deep red kind known in the trade as Ahmar. It is cut as a high oval cabochon with a clean, glass-like polish, and it is translucent enough that light entering at the edge turns the body a warm orange-red. There is no banding and no visible flaw across the dome.
The mount is 925 sterling silver left entirely plain: a smooth closed bezel, broad polished shoulders and a heavy rounded shank. Nothing competes with the stone; the weight of the silver and the depth of the red do the work.
A quiet, substantial ring for someone who prefers the stone to speak for itself.
