The stone is a natural, untreated red Yemeni agate in a deep, even tone: dark at the rim and warming to a red-orange heart where the light gets through. It is cut as a very large oval cabochon with a high dome and a clean polish, with no pattern to distract from the colour.
The silver is sculptural rather than engraved. Nine rounded spokes fan out from a ribbed collar at the shank and rise to meet the smooth bezel, each one polished bright, with a second lobed tier set above them. There is no oxidising and no ornament beyond the form itself, all in sterling silver.
