The stone is a Yemeni picture agate in which a translucent orange-red field meets a dark grey-black mass with a jagged, stepped edge. Held to the light it reads like a sunset behind a black crag. Natural and untreated; the contrast formed inside the stone.
The bezel is tall and fluted, cut into fine vertical reeds all the way round so the edge catches light like a coin rim. The shank is heavy, flat-topped and plain, tapering from the head. Sterling silver 925, with no ornament beyond the reeding.
A red stone that carries its own horizon.
