The stone is a large, high-domed oval cabochon of natural, untreated banded Yemeni agate (Muwashshah). Three broad layers run its length: a cream-white band along the base, a deep chocolate-brown band through the middle and a warm amber-brown band on top, divided by a thin pale line. The bands are clean and the dome is polished to a glass-like finish.
A smooth bezel with a beaded border holds the stone. Each shoulder carries a scalloped cartouche, inside which five-petal flowers, a smaller blossom and leaf sprays are hand-engraved with fine hatching, left bright against an oxidised ground. The silver is 925 sterling.
A men’s ring built on the pleasure of clean stripes and patient engraving.
