The stone is a large oval cabochon of natural, untreated white Yemeni agate: milky, faintly blue-tinged, and translucent enough to glow at the rim. A single golden-brown plume rises from the lower centre of the face and fans out like a feather caught in clear water. It is the kind of lone inclusion the Yemeni trade groups under shajari, and it is what makes this stone one of a kind.
A smooth bezel with a beaded border holds the cabochon. The shoulders are pierced openwork: a full rose in relief, a climbing vine with small five-petal blossoms and berry clusters, all hand-finished and oxidised in the recesses so the silver reads like lace. The silver is 925 sterling.
A quieter men’s ring, where the plume in the stone and the rose in the silver answer each other.
