A generous oval of milky, translucent Yemeni agate, clear as water in places, with clouds of ochre, rust and olive drifting through one side like moss on a winter stone.
The sterling silver head grips it in a crown of fine pointed teeth, bordered on each side by a channel of small royal-blue accent stones. The shoulders are laid with royal-blue enamel in stepped geometric panels, outlined in black, carrying the Arabic word al-Hilal and the year 1957.
Pale stone, deep blue, bright silver: a ring for a man who wears his colours.
