A generous oval of translucent Yemeni agate in the deep purple-red of a ripe pomegranate, the colour the market calls Rummani. The dome is high and even, polished to a soft gloss.
Each shoulder carries a mosque in silver relief: a ribbed dome raised on an arcaded drum, two slender minarets beside it, and beneath them a trellis of diamonds and fine granulation set into a darkened ground. The detail continues in openwork along the inside of the band.
A devotional motif, rendered with an architect’s care.
