The stone is a natural, untreated Yemeni agate in the glowing translucent red the trade calls Rummani, after the pomegranate. Cut as a large high dome, it lights up orange-red when the sun reaches its edge and settles into a deeper red-brown in shadow, with soft lighter swirls inside.
The mount pairs sterling silver with gold-plated accents. Four gilded looped claws hold the stone open at the corners, so light enters from the side. Each shoulder is a tapered panel of dot granulation with pierced slanted bars, three round faceted red stones at the centre and a row of smaller red stones along each edge; the shank carries a three-leaf clover in dark-red enamel with polished silver teardrop centres.
