A natural, untreated Yemeni agate cut as a large oval cabochon. The body is translucent honey shading to orange-amber at the crown, with a thin blue-grey band at the upper rim. In the lower half a formation of concentric brown rings encloses a pale yellow-green core, with a smaller ringed spot above it: the eye the Yemeni trade looks for and rarely finds this well defined.
The sterling silver mount is engraved by hand. Each shoulder carries a cluster of five-petal blossoms with fern fronds curling above and below, cut deep and set against an oxidised ground so every petal stands up. Beaded rails run along both edges and around the bezel.
One piece, one stone, sized about US 10.
