A large oval of deep red Yemeni agate, even and translucent, of the kind the market calls Ahmar.
The sterling silver frame is built in layers: a twisted rope wire against the stone, a border of fine beaded granulation, and a gentle point at top and bottom that gives the head a softly pointed oval outline. A cast rose sits on each side where head meets band, and from there laurel leaves run in relief along a darkened ground.
Rose and laurel, two old emblems of honour, framing one red stone.
