A large oval of translucent Yemeni agate in a deep wine red, the kind the market calls Kabdi. The colour is even across the dome and darkens slightly towards the rim, so the stone reads rich rather than bright.
The sterling silver mount is built like lace. A scalloped border of granulated rosettes runs along each shoulder, with polished teardrops and rope-twist lines set against a darkened ground. At its centre sits a red faceted baguette accent stone, a sharp counterpoint to the soft dome of the agate.
Ornate, but held in balance by a single calm stone.
