The stone is a natural, untreated red Yemeni agate, the colour the Sana’a trade simply calls Ahmar: a saturated, even red that deepens toward the edges and turns translucent when light passes through the dome. It is cut as a generous oval cabochon with a smooth, high polish.
A tall serrated gallery of closely spaced vertical cuts frames the stone and catches the light like a row of fine teeth. On the shoulders a five-petal rose opens among leaves and scrolling tendrils, hand-engraved in relief against a darkened ground, finished with a plain polished sterling silver shank.
A classic men’s red agate ring with the engraving doing the talking.
