A large oval of Yemeni agate so dark it reads almost black until light catches it, when the edges turn to deep wine red. The market calls this depth of colour Kabdi.
A plain sterling silver bezel keeps the stone calm. The drama is on the shoulders, where scrolling acanthus-style leaves and small berry clusters are carved deep into a darkened ground, and the band continues with a twisted row of slanted leaves between beaded edges.
A night-coloured stone in a garden of silver.
